Dr. Steven R. Hill

Dr. Hill showed a display of historic specimens placed out for viewing
by visitors in a staff work area, and explained the history of herbarium
collections, which were begun during the Renaissance of learning in
Italy. Some of the display specimens dated from the time that Linnaeus
was alive, and at least one was collected by Charles Darwin when he
was first considering his new ideas on his theory of Evolution, when he
was the naturalist on the British research vessel "The Beagle".
