Dr. Hill explained that this rush-like sedge (sometimes called a bulrush or
reed) was not only the plant whose stem was used to make paper in ancient
Egypt (in fact, the word paper is derived from the name of the plant) but it
also was the plant used to make the reed vessel that carried the infant
Moses to a princess of Egypt, according to the Bible.
