While visiting the Great Pyramids of Egypt last month, I noticed that many
of the limestone blocks contained fossils. I picked up a few that had weathered
out of the limestone. I believe the limestone is Eocene in age, deposited when
the Mediterranean Sea covered a much larger area than today. I think that these
are foraminifera. The larger one may be Nummulites gizehensis and I have not
been able to identify the smaller ones. Any help in identifying these fossils
would be appreciated.
