Meet Ivan, a true rock hound. The specialized saw is made to cut the
layers with a dry diamond blade. Operators of this saw say that one can
never get a saw too large for cutting fish plates at this altitude.

Here the team is lifting out a plate, hopefully loaded with fish. An
intense inspection by all will be made and the angle of the morning Sun
will help provide protruding relief/shadows indicating fish trapped
between sedimentary layers. In the 18 inch layer, the fish will be
exposed using air abrasive tools charged with powdered dolomite.
That is work for the shop and not attempted in the field.
